LEAD Education Alternative Provision (LEAP Programme)

It is a well-known fact that outdoor activities present an excellent opportunity for individuals of any age to gain invaluable skills and qualities that can be utilised in their daily lives. By engaging in a variety of team and individual adventure activities, learners’ will develop their communication skills, teamwork, problem solving, resilience, self-esteem and confidence.

Taking advantage of the great outdoors as a learning platform offers a unique opportunity for individuals to enhance their physical and mental wellbeing. This opportunity also promotes personal growth, social awareness and skills for life.

Learning outside the classroom can contribute to raising standards and improving students’ personal, social and emotional development as well as catering for individual learning styles (visual, auditory and kinaesthetic).

Learning in an outdoor environment can also develop learners’ understanding and awareness of the ever-changing environment, including climate change and how we can work together to tackle such problems and live sustainably; protecting our environment, wildlife and each other.

LEAD offers an alternative education provision. The LEAP Programme. The LEAP Programme engages individuals who may benefit from one to one support, small group work and an increase in confidence, self-esteem and team work skills through outdoor adventure whilst gaining recognised vocational qualifications and proficiency awards. This may include primary and secondary education learners, Level 1 short courses and traineeships which will develop learners employability skills, offer work experience, learn, gain new skills and have fun in an outdoor adventure setting. We work closely with our clients to ensure we meet their individual needs and cater for all learning abilities.

Our outdoor centres offer first class facilities. Students will take part in a vast range of adventure sports on land & water and work towards proficiency awards whilst gaining invaluable life skill. Learners will be guided and supported by highly qualified outdoor instructors at all times.  Activities include: –

  • Climbing
  • Abseiling
  • Mountain Biking
  • Orienteering
  • Mountaineering
  • Jet skiing
  • Stand Up Paddle Boarding (SUP)
  • Kayaking/Canoeing
  • Coasteering
  • Surfing

Here at LEAD we add that personal touch to the young person’s experience through self-reflection, guidance, positive communication and support. We treat learners on a personal level rather than adopting a ‘conveyor belt’ approach to adventurous activities, whereby young people are hurried or rushed through their adventure experience.  We are passionate that our learners should enjoy their journey with us…developing, learning and becoming a stronger leader themselves.  In order to achieve this, each young person will be guided by a team of highly experienced and motivated staff who will support and cater to individual needs throughout this adventurous learning journey.

Take that LEAP of faith and join us on your adventure!
